Ignition Casino app review: casino, poker and mobile play

Ignition is a long-running, US-facing casino and poker site. It is best known for its poker room, one of the busiest that accepts American players, but it also has a full casino with slots, table games and live dealer tables. There is no Ignition app in the App Store or Google Play: on iPhone and Android you play in the mobile browser, which works like an app once you add it to your home screen.

In this review we look at how the Ignition casino app works on mobile, what you can play, how the welcome bonus is built, how fast you get paid and where you can and can’t sign up.

What is Ignition?

Ignition belongs to the same group as Bovada and shares its poker network. Where Bovada combines a sportsbook, casino and poker, Ignition focuses on casino and poker only. It accepts players from most US states and from Australia, holds an offshore license from Anjouan in the Union of the Comoros, and is built around crypto payments.

Ignition on iPhone and Android

Ignition doesn’t offer a native casino app in the official app stores, which is normal for offshore casinos that accept US players. Instead, the full site runs in Safari on iPhone and in Chrome or any other browser on Android. The mobile version gives you the casino lobby, the poker room, the cashier and your account settings, so you don’t miss anything compared to desktop.

How to add Ignition to your home screen

• iPhone: open the site in Safari, tap the share icon and choose “Add to Home Screen”. Ignition now opens full screen from its own icon.
• Android: open the site in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu and choose “Add to Home screen” or “Install app”.

Be careful with download pages on other sites that offer an “Ignition APK” or an iOS profile. Ignition doesn’t distribute its casino through third-party file hosts, and unofficial files are a security risk. On desktop, Ignition offers a downloadable poker client; on mobile, poker runs in the browser.

The poker app

Poker is the main reason players choose Ignition. The room runs on the PaiWangLuo network, which it shares with Bovada, so there is traffic at most hours of the day. All tables are anonymous: you don’t see screen names, which makes it hard for regulars to track and target recreational players.

• Cash games: Texas Hold’em and Omaha at a wide range of stakes.
• Zone Poker: fast-fold poker that moves you to a new table as soon as you fold.
• Tournaments: daily and weekly tournaments, plus regular series with larger guarantees.
• Jackpot Sit & Go’s: quick three-handed tournaments with a randomly drawn prize pool.

On a phone you play one table at a time in portrait mode, with large buttons that are easy to use with one hand. Compare it with other options in our overview of poker apps.

Casino games

The casino lobby is smaller than at many international casinos, but it covers all the main categories and runs smoothly on a phone. Games come from providers such as Realtime Gaming, Betsoft and Rival, plus a number of smaller studios.

• Slots: classic and video slots, many with progressive jackpots. Hot Drop Jackpots pay out hourly and daily prizes that are guaranteed to drop before a set time.
• Table games: blackjack, roulette, baccarat and craps in digital versions.
• Live dealer: blackjack, roulette and baccarat streamed from a studio. These use more data, so Wi-Fi is the better choice.
• Video poker and specialty games: including keno and scratch-style games.

Welcome bonus and promotions

New players can claim a welcome package of up to $3,000 with a crypto deposit, split between the casino and the poker room. With a card deposit, the maximum is lower. The casino part comes with a 25x wagering requirement on deposit plus bonus. The poker part is released step by step as you earn Ignition Miles at the tables.

Not every game counts the same towards wagering. Slots count in full, table games and video poker count for a small part, and live dealer games and Hot Drop Jackpots can’t be played with bonus money. Check the current terms in the cashier before you deposit, because offers and conditions change regularly.

After the welcome bonus, Ignition Miles is the loyalty program: you earn Miles on casino and poker play and move up through tiers with better rewards. There are also weekly reload offers and a refer-a-friend bonus.

Deposits and withdrawals

Ignition is a crypto-first casino. Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Ethereum and Tether are the fastest and cheapest way to deposit and withdraw. Visa and Mastercard work for deposits, but card payments to offshore casinos are often declined by US banks and come with a fee. Other options include MatchPay, vouchers and a check by courier.

Withdrawals go through a review first, which usually takes a day or two. After approval, crypto payouts arrive quickly, often within an hour depending on the coin. The minimum deposit to claim the welcome bonus is $20. Before your first withdrawal you may be asked to verify your identity.

License and safety

Ignition holds an offshore license from Anjouan, Union of the Comoros. It has no license from any US state, so you don’t get the protection of a regulated app: there is no state regulator to turn to if a withdrawal is delayed. On the other hand, Ignition has been paying players for many years and has a solid reputation in the poker community. Use the deposit limits and time-out options in your account settings if you want to keep control.

Where you can play

Ignition accepts players from most US states. Its terms exclude Delaware, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey and New York. Ignition also accepts players from Australia. Accounts accessed from a restricted state can be closed, and using a VPN breaks the terms. Florida players can find more about the legal situation in our guide to online casinos in Florida.

Ignition vs other casino apps

If you want sports betting next to casino and poker, Bovada is the closer fit. If you mainly play slots and want a larger choice of bonus offers, Slots.lv is worth a look. For poker on your phone, Ignition is the strongest of the three.
