How Crown Coins and Sweeps Coins work
Every sweepstakes app runs on two currencies, and Crown Coins is no exception. Understanding the difference is the most important thing to know before you install it.
- Crown Coins (CC) are play money. You get them for free when you sign up, through daily login rewards and in promotions, and you can buy more in coin packages. They have no cash value and can never be redeemed.
- Sweeps Coins (SC) are the promotional currency. They come free with sign-up and daily bonuses and as a bonus with coin packages. Winnings in Sweeps Coins can be redeemed for prizes at a value of 1 SC to $1, once you have played each coin through at least once.
Because Sweeps Coins are always given away free, no purchase is needed to play for prizes. That “no purchase necessary” model is what legally separates a sweepstakes app from an online casino. In practice, though, most players who redeem regularly do buy coin packages, so set a budget the same way you would for any paid game.
Bonuses and free coins
New players get a welcome bonus of free Crown Coins and Sweeps Coins without making a purchase. After that, the app rewards you every day you log in, with a daily bonus that grows the more days in a row you play. There are also weekly and monthly promotions, plus an extra bonus on your first coin package.
Sweeps Coins can also be requested for free by post, as described in the sweepstakes rules. Amounts and offers change regularly, so check the promotions screen in the app for the current deal.
Games in the app
The lobby is built around slots. Next to familiar titles from third-party studios, Crown Coins has a row of in-house exclusives such as Blitz Extreme and 3 Big Barrels Crown Coins, plus a separate section of jackpot slots with progressive prize pools. Weekly live bingo events add some variety.
What you won’t find are real-money table games or a live dealer casino in the regulated sense. Filters in the lobby are fairly basic, so finding a specific slot can take some scrolling.
Redeeming Sweeps Coins
Redeeming is where the Crown Coins app compares well with other sweepstakes apps. The thresholds are low and the rules are simple:
- Play every Sweeps Coin through once (1x) before it counts as redeemable
- Redeem from 50 SC for a digital gift card
- Redeem from 100 SC for a cash prize by bank transfer or Skrill
- Verify your identity first: your account name has to match your government ID
The first redemption usually takes the longest because of the identity check. After that, prizes tend to arrive faster. Only Sweeps Coins you’ve won count toward the minimum; coins still waiting on their playthrough don’t.
Using the Crown Coins Casino app
The iPhone app is the strongest part of the package. It loads quickly, the lobby is easy to read and the cashier, redemption screen and help centre are all one tap away in the bottom menu. Support is available around the clock through in-app messaging, and the help centre covers common questions about verification and redemptions.
There’s no Android app. On Android, you play through the mobile website, which has the same games, cashier and redemption options. You can add the site to your home screen for quick access, but it doesn’t send notifications and feels slightly less smooth than the iOS app.
Regular players can climb a loyalty programme with extra bonuses. The top tiers are invite-only and come with a personal host.
How to get started on the Crown Coins app
- Download CrownCoins Casino from the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
- Sign up with your full name as it appears on your ID, plus your address and phone number.
- Allow location access so the app can confirm you’re in an eligible state.
- Claim the welcome bonus and choose whether to play with Crown Coins or Sweeps Coins.
- Complete identity verification before your first redemption to avoid delays.
Is the Crown Coins app safe?
Crown Coins is run by Sunflower Limited, which publishes the app on the App Store under its own name. Redemptions require identity verification, and location checks keep players in excluded states from signing up. With more than 145,000 ratings averaging 4.8, it’s also one of the most-reviewed sweepstakes apps on iPhone.
Sweepstakes apps aren’t licensed like real-money casinos, and state rules keep changing. Redeem regularly instead of building up a large Sweeps Coin balance, so a rule change in your state doesn’t leave you with coins you can’t use.
Tips for playing responsibly
- Decide in advance how much, if anything, you’ll spend on coin packages
- Use the free daily bonuses first
- See Sweeps Coins as a bonus, not as income
- Take a break when it stops being fun
Where the Crown Coins app is available
Crown Coins is open to adults aged 18 or over in most US states. Its terms exclude Idaho, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, Nevada and Washington. A growing number of states have also passed laws against online sweepstakes casinos, including California, Connecticut, Indiana, Maine, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma and Tennessee, and sweepstakes apps are no longer offered there.
Because this list keeps changing, check the state list in the app before you sign up. Location checks block play from excluded states, and a redemption can be refused if you played from somewhere you weren’t allowed to. For the bigger picture, see our guide to sweepstakes casino apps.
Crown Coins app vs real-money casino apps
A sweepstakes app is not the same as a real-money casino. You can’t deposit and withdraw, there are no licensed odds or published RTPs for most games, and prize redemptions follow sweepstakes rules rather than gambling regulation. If you want to play for real money, the casino apps below accept US players in most states, and our USA guide explains what is legal where you live.
Is the Crown Coins Casino app worth it?
For iPhone users who want a free-to-play casino with the option to win prizes, Crown Coins is one of the better choices. The 50 SC gift card threshold and 1x playthrough are player-friendly, the app is polished and support is easy to reach. If you’re on Android, McLuck has a native app instead. The downsides are the lack of an Android app, a narrower game library than the largest sweepstakes brands and a state list that keeps shrinking. Play for fun first, and treat any coin purchase as money spent on entertainment.

- No purchase needed to play for prizes
- No Android app
- Not available in a growing list of states
- Smaller game library than the biggest sweepstakes brands
- Basic game filters in the lobby
