LuckyLand Casino is VGW’s newest sweepstakes casino and the successor to LuckyLand Slots, which closed for good in September. Where LuckyLand Slots was all about slots, LuckyLand Casino adds table games and live dealer tables to the mix. You play with Gold Coins for fun or with Sweeps Coins that can be redeemed for prizes. It isn’t a real-money casino, and you never need to buy anything to play.
If you’re looking for the LuckyLand app, note that the full sweepstakes version runs in your mobile browser; the LuckyLand Casino Lite app in the App Store is a separate, Gold Coins-only version. Below we explain the difference, how the coins and redemptions work and which states can play.

LuckyLand Casino vs LuckyLand Slots
LuckyLand Slots was one of the most popular sweepstakes sites in the US. VGW stopped Gold Coin sales and gameplay there over the summer and closed the site completely in mid-September, after the last Sweeps Coin redemptions. LuckyLand Casino is the brand that continues: same company, same coin system, but a broader game library that includes table games and live dealer games instead of slots only. If you had a LuckyLand Slots account, you’ll need to sign up at LuckyLand Casino separately.
How Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins work
- Gold Coins (GC) are play money. You get a large stack free when you sign up and more through daily bonuses, and you can buy extra packages. They have no cash value.
- Sweeps Coins (SC) come free with sign-up, daily promotions and as a bonus with Gold Coin packages. Sweeps Coins you win can be redeemed for prizes at 1 SC to $1 after you’ve played them through once.
Because Sweeps Coins are always available for free, including by post, no purchase is needed to play for prizes. If you do buy coin packages, set a monthly limit first.
Games at LuckyLand Casino
LuckyLand Casino focuses on exclusive games built by VGW’s own studios. Next to slots with hold-and-spin features and jackpots, there are casino classics like blackjack and roulette, and live dealer tables with real hosts. That makes it a more complete casino than LuckyLand Slots ever was, although the total library is smaller than at brands like McLuck.
Redeeming Sweeps Coins
- Play every Sweeps Coin through once before it becomes redeemable
- Redeem prizes from 50 SC
- Cash prizes are paid by bank transfer and take a few business days
- Verify your identity before your first redemption
The 50 SC minimum is half of what Chumba Casino asks for a cash prize, which makes LuckyLand Casino one of VGW’s more accessible brands for casual players.
Playing LuckyLand Casino on your phone
The full LuckyLand Casino site runs in Safari and Chrome, with the same games, cashier and redemption options as on desktop. You can add it to your home screen for quick access. The LuckyLand Casino Lite app on the App Store is a different product: it only offers Gold Coin play, so there are no Sweeps Coins or prizes in that app. It’s also very new and has few ratings so far.
How to get started at LuckyLand Casino
- Open LuckyLand Casino in your mobile browser and sign up with your real name and address.
- Allow location access so the site can confirm you’re in an eligible state.
- Claim the free welcome coins and switch between Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins in the lobby.
- Try the table games and live tables with Gold Coins first.
- Verify your identity before you want to redeem.
Where LuckyLand Casino is available
LuckyLand Casino is for players aged 21 or over. It isn’t available in a long list of states, including California, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, Washington and West Virginia, and some sources also list Indiana and Maine. Check the state list on the site before you sign up.
Is LuckyLand Casino safe?
LuckyLand Casino is run by VGW, the largest and most established sweepstakes operator in the US. Redemptions require ID verification and location checks block excluded states. As with any sweepstakes casino, it isn’t licensed like a real-money casino and the legal landscape is changing, so redeem regularly instead of building up a big Sweeps Coin balance.
Tips for playing responsibly
- Decide in advance how much, if anything, you’ll spend on coin packages each month
- Use the free daily bonuses before considering a purchase
- See Sweeps Coins as a bonus, not as a way to earn money
- Take a break when it stops being fun
LuckyLand Casino vs other sweepstakes apps
If you want a proper native app, Crown Coins (iPhone) and McLuck (iPhone and Android) are better choices. For poker, VGW’s Global Poker is the obvious sister site. And if you’d rather play for real money, the casino apps below accept US players in most states; our USA guide explains what’s legal where you live.
Who is LuckyLand Casino best for?
- Former LuckyLand Slots players who want to stay with a familiar VGW brand
- Players who like table games and live dealers as well as slots
- Casual players who appreciate a 50 SC redemption minimum
If a native app with Sweeps Coins is important to you, or you want the biggest possible game library, other sweepstakes casinos are a better fit.
Is LuckyLand Casino worth it?
LuckyLand Casino is a solid step up from LuckyLand Slots, with table games, live dealer tables and a fair 50 SC redemption minimum from the most established sweepstakes operator. The lack of a full app and the long list of excluded states are the main drawbacks. See all options in our guide to sweepstakes casino apps.
